From the Word:  Too many words! (from II Peter 1:1-11)
”Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.” (II Peter 1:2 NASB)

Lord, there are so many things to think about from this passage; I may need to read it over again tomorrow like I did with I Peter 4 and 5.  (Boy would that spoil a yearly reading plan if I was bound to one…)  I don’t want to miss out on what You may have to say to me here.  But even in the first few verses, the words are many, and their relationship needs to be sorted out:  faith, righteousness, grace, peace, knowledge…  Let’s leave it at that for the first two verses.

How do they all fit together, Lord?  How is grace and peace multiplied?  In knowledge!  In the knowledge of You!  Yes!  As I grow in my knowledge of You, then grace and peace will be multiplied - not just added on, but multiplied.  And in v8 You qualify it as true knowledge, also v3.  O Lord, what better way to grow in knowledge than to devote myself (again, as always) to prayer and to the Word: scripture memory, Bible study, and this time with You.  I must actively focus on my pursuit of You - to know You, Lord, Jesus!  Only then will grace and peace be multiplied in my life.  With renewed dedication and resolve, I ask You to help me, go before me, go with me in making time with You in the Word and prayer my highest priority!  Amen.

Please pray with us:
We meet regularly with our Philadelphia staff for business meetings, but it is essential that our meetings also include prayer and the Word (Acts 6:4).  I am encouraged that the last time we met, we spent the majority of our time sharing prayer requests and praying specifically for one another.  But sometimes our agenda gets overtaken with things that, although they are good and necessary, pre-empt us from time together in the Word and prayer.

Please pray with us for the best use of our time when we meet together, not only during our monthly business meetings, but also when we get together at other times, informally and as smaller groups or one to one, and colaboring together in our respective ministries.

Thanks -
John
