From the Word: “Protected by Power”(from I Peter 1:1-12)
”…You, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” (I Peter 1:4,5 NASB)
Lord, this is a very reassuring verse. To be reminded that You have the power to protect us, to protect me, is great comfort. And as I consider the situation I was in yesterday, and the potential for danger or harm, I am grateful that You went before me and with me in this regard. And even though my faith may not have been real active and focused at the moment, Your power was not diminished by my lack of faith!
Thank You, Lord, for Your protection and for this promise. This is a great encouragment for me to step out with confidence in Your leading, and to trust You with the results, and not be overly concerned about circumstances. Give me wisdom in this as I trust You with all our circumstances and look to You for guidance as to what my part is in making happen Your plan and purpose for us. Wisdom and strength from You, Lord. Amen.

The Navigators sponsor several dozen summer foreign missions opportunities every year. Check out the opportunities at http://www.navmissions.org . The deadline to sign up for many of these is the end of this month. In addition to meeting needs at the target location, summer short term missions can make a huge difference in the lives of those who make the commitment to participate. Please go to the website and pick one or two programs to pray for, and also pray with us for those college students and young adults (and in some cases not so young) who will be signing up for each program and trusting God to provide the funds and all the other details such as passports, vaccinations, language differences, etc. Again, it is reassuring to know that God can protect each of the missions volunteers by His amazing power! (And as a father who has had a child go to a foreign country for a missions trip, it is helpful to be reminded that God’s power protects us!)
